Birthday
Journey Baptist Church will be eight weeks old on Sunday October 31. Happy Birthday!
Average Sunday morning attendance is 62. Yeah!
Sunday night and Wednesday night have been at 30 in attendance on average. Yeah!

Three more families will be joining soon. These families have filled out their interest to join the church commitment cards. Meetings have been made for a pastoral visit. Yeah!

Family Night

We had a wonderful time at the Family Night event at the Brazells on October 23.

There was food, family, friends, bondfire, smores, hayride, and just plain fun! Approximately 60 people attended.

Several new families made their way to the outing. Two of these familes are already getting plugged in and are excited about Journey Baptist Church.

Fall Festival
Journey Baptist by invitation joined the Fine Arts Academy at Ridge Point to host a fall festival for the community on October 29. It's amazing how children can have a great time with the simple things in life. Set out a few games, let them wear a fun costume, eat candy and feed them free food. Wow! What a great combo.

Thanks goes to Andy Elrod from the Fine Arts Academy for inviting Journey to join in on the fun. They provided a super slide, indoor games, a cake walk and much more. We're not sure how many people came by and ate free hot dogs in the new church student center, but there was a good number. A Big thank you goes to the Journey family for all the help, free food and games provided for the event and most important, making a child laugh and giggle!

Church Planting School

This past week, I had an opportunity to attend the a church planting school made available by Baptist Bible Fellowship International.  The NCPO (National Church Planting Office) is headquartered in Springfield, MO., home of Baptist Bible College.

It was a delight to be around men who have started churches and are still starting churches around the world.  These men brought a rich background and passion to the table.  It was a great week.  One young couple is heading to Montana and another was heading out to Togo, West Africa, yet another was heading to the Netherlands.

Home Base
In my absence, I never doubted the ability of our core group to continue running the ministries while I was away for an entire week.  Journey Baptist is blessed from God.  He has given us a great team.  Kudos to the team!

Women's Ministry
Attention all women!

Would you like to get in on the ground floor in having input for a women's ministry at Journey Baptist?

Our ladies are having a time of sweet delight on Thursday October 21 at 7:30 PM at the House of Pizza at the corner of Hwy 302 and Pine Street in So. Congaree.

The ladies will begin to discuss plans to start a women's ministry.

Veterans

We will be recognizing and honoring our veterans on Sunday morning November 7 during the AM and PM service.

If you have served, we would like to display a picture or other memorabilia of anyone that served in our armed forces at the church.  You may bring pictures and such to the church beginning the week of October 18, 2010 through Sunday November 3.

Lifelines is a crucial part of man's spiritual survival at Journey.

If you have not joined a small group and would like to, you're invited to attend Lifelines at Journey Baptist Church on Saturday October  23 at 8 AM in the fellowship hall suite A.

Lifelines is a men's accountability ministry where scripture reading, journaling, scripture memorizing and great fellowship is pursued.  It is an avenue to grow in discipleship.

What's Happening at Journey Baptist Church?

All is good!
The men had their first men's breakfast in our new student center/fellowship hall. They had 11 in attendance. They had some great food, and great fellowship that will always be memorable.

The food smells were carried down the street. It was aromarific!

The men's accountability ministry was introduced.  LifeLines is about Scripture reading, journaling, praying and meeting with one another.

We all look forward to exciting years ahead as we pick up momentum in this great service to our men.

The men's breakfast had all the makings of a great, flavorfull, gut filling great breakfast! Hmmm! Man Food!

A big thank you goes to Eddie Brazell who helped bring it all together with his cooking skills.

New Members

Our very first members from the community came forward to join the new church on Sunday.  We're delighted to have Billy and Dee Montgomery join this new body of believers.  We look forward to loving this family and to building a wonderful relationship with them.

Door to Door Visitation

Most people cringe at thinking about going cold turkey door knocking.  However, we at Journey simply follow our Lord's example of walking among the crowds.  Even Scripture reveals that we are  to go to the "highways and hedges to compel them to come to the house of the Lord".  It has been medicine to this pastor's soul.

So many have allowed us to pray for them.  Some have given us money to support the new church plant.  Other's have actually visited the church.  Still others just wish to talk about today's current affairs with the church.

I'm not exactly sure of the count, but I believe we're averaging approximately 30-35 visits per day.  We usually go out three or four days a week.

Until next time

Pastor Hector Rodriguez
