Answer to Prayers!

This week has been a very exciting week for us at Journey Baptist Church.  Some of the local residents and business representatives are excited and coming alongside to help the new church plant.

Article Coming Soon to local Newspaper
For starters, I met the Senior Editor, Mr. Bill West from the Lexington Country Chronicle at this week's Nehemiah Project in Cayce.  Mr. West was excited to hear of the new church and will be publishing a column in August highlighting Journey Baptist Church.

Buildings
We have also been blessed with a building, but it's not the school, it's store front property that was previously a restaurant. The lease on this building is actually comparable to that of the school that we were thinking of renting.  God in His plan led us to owners and builders of these buildings.  Not only has our Lord orchestrated the right pricing, but the owners are Christians that love God and are connected in their own house of worship.  One of their own family members Jimmy Jones is the founder of Christ Central Ministries which excels in assisting local communities in many ways.

Future Worship Center and Nursery

We are still waiting on final approval on the second building which will be the worship center and nursery.  Please thank God for His many blessings.

Cookout
We had a good turnout for our informational meeting on Wednesday July 21.  We want to say thank you to Jeff and Teresa Cain for their labor of love in preparing hamburgers on a hot grill with temperatures hovering at 100 degrees in the shade.  Marilyn Shafter and Richard Scott were instrumental in preparing sidedishes and preparing the Fellowship Hall.  Jerry Wertz setup tables, chairs, sound equipment for the event.  Glenn Hammond got us going with soundtracts for background music.  Thanks to everybody who helped.

We had approximately 50 in attendance to come hear about the new work. Several could not make it, but have indicated they would like to be part of the core group.  Amen on that!

Next Meeting
There will be a meeting for the core group of helpers, volunteers and leaders on Saturday July 31 at Eddie and Teresa Brazell's home. This has been changed from the previous location at Pastor's Hector home.  Please make the change on your calendars. The address for the meeting from the property at First Baptist to the Brazell's is: 456 Pleasant View Dr., Lexington, SC

Clean-up Teams
Help will be needed to help clean, setup and do very little painting in the building as we prepare for our Septermber 12 kick-off.

More information will be made available as we move into the month of August.  Stay tuned in.

Kudos!
A big thank you goes to Devon and Deanie Shelton for their assistance in working with me almost daily.  They have great imput and godly wisdom.  Their dedication to the Lord is worthy of praise.  Deanie was instrumental in leading us to the store front property.  She not only prayed about the property, but knows the family.  I also would like to recognize Teresa Brazell for her willingness and organizational ability to get things done.  Teresa has lots of insight as the PTO President at Wood Elementary School and comes to the table willing to help out in whatever areas she is needed. She is currently helping the church get things in order for our future incorporation.
